Alexander Holmqvist et al. at the Neuronano Research Center has recently published new research on nanoparticles and neural interfaces. This research can in the future lead to new applications involving drug delivery into the brain. Potential indications may include delivery of pharmaceuticals to reduce the acute brain tissue responses after implantation or for distribution of other pharmaceuticals to provide highly localized and therefore more specific effects as compared to systemic administration.
